Step into Steptember
If you are the average office worker in Australia you will be moving, approximately, 3,000 steps a day… and you’re likely to be seated for more than 2 hours at a time. 3,000 steps might sound like a big number, but considering the recommended minimum is 10,000… we’re not doing too well, are we?
There are innovative ways to Get Healthy At Work!
You can get healthy on the way to work, at lunch time and after work, simply by walking more and moving regularly and this year, The Big Red Group is committing to Steptember!
In groups of four, teams across RedBalloon, Redii, Wrapped and The Huddle are committing to the healthy Steptember initiative. For 28 days between 4th of September – 1st of October 2017, our teams are committing to walking 10,000 steps for 28 days, all the while helping to raise money for Cerebral Palsy – everyone wins!
All funds raised go toward additional therapy, services, equipment and assistive technology for people living with cerebral palsy, with some funds going towards life changing research. As a permanent and lifelong condition caused by injury to the brain, Cerebral Palsy is a physical disability that affects movement and posture. In fact, it’s the most common childhood disability…
When you register for Steptember you receive a pedometer to record your steps and there’s even an online calculator that converts a range of activities, like swimming, yoga, wheelchair rugby and boccia, into the equivalent steps.
So why don’t you join us? Grab four friends, colleagues or neighbours and take up the Steptember challenge!
Raising over $4 million for kids and adults with cerebral palsy last year alone, Steptember is the perfect excuse to get away from your desk—not even your boss can argue with that! 😉 In fact, why don’t you get your boss to champion the whole business into challenging each other – walk as teams, have walking meetings, and all the time you can be getting healthy at work and helping a good cause.
They say that sitting for long periods of time causes health problems equal to that of smoking. Embracing Steptember is a way that you can get moving, support the community and have fun doing it…
So, will you step up to Steptember? I have, and I can’t wait to see how many people we can get on board this year!
