Digital marketing: how to grow your business using Facebook?

It’s imperative that as business owners we’re across all possible customer acquisition platforms – the thing is that they change so quickly. There’s a plethora of information out ‘there’ about digital marketing, especially in relation to social media giant, Facebook. So, in order to conquer the metaphorical Facebook advertising mountain, I thought I’d get Ben Simkin in for a Facebook Live event with me tomorrow night, Tuesday 23 May at 7pm AEST.

Ben Simkin is an expert in lead generation, online marketing and business strategist as well as Managing Director of BusinessNET. Ben and I will be discussing how to grow your business using Facebook, all things Facebook marketing, brand awareness and converting leads into sales.

I have a feeling it’s a hot topic for many of us, so make sure you come and join us tomorrow evening, Tuesday 23 May at 7pm over on my Facebook page and be sure to leave any burning questions you have over there!

Last Week

I was based out of the RedBalloon offices all week, jetting in and out to attend events. On Monday evening I attended the Australian Tourism Exchange (ATE) event – Australia’s largest annual travel and tourism business-to-business event.

I headed north on Tuesday for a speaking engagement at Newcastle Business Club – it was a great event and I got to hang out with my fellow Shark – Glen Richards!

Wednesday night saw me filming another ANZ Facebook Live with Ben Thompson, CEO and Founder of Employment Hero and on Thursday evening I headed to another ATE event.

Book of the week

An oldie but a goodie – this book influenced much about how I run businesses. It was particularly influential in the RedBalloon growth story. I have been reflecting on the Verne Harnish classic and its impact: ‘Mastering the Rockefeller Habits: What you must do to increase the value of your fast-growing firm‘. We used the Rockefeller Habit checklist after every planning cycle in the startup phase of RedBalloon – click the image to grab your copy!

Thought for the week

What I’m reading

The fundamentals of life from Bill Gates – What would you do if you had your time again?

Three vital leadership lessons from Richard Branson – Tips for leaders to stay strong in the face of adversity.

Why most people will never be successful – “Success is continuously improving who you are, how you live, how you serve, and how you relate.”

On the blog

I wrote a blog post last week about parent’s guilt and how that relates to establishing a meaningful contribution with our work. For those of us slugging it out in our businesses, we’re away from our loved ones longer than we’d like – it is imperative to ensure our connection with our greater purpose is absolutely clear.

In the Media

Founders can often get in the way of their own success… SmartCompany retweeted an article I wrote for them last year on the one thing entrepreneurs should do if they want to grow their company.

The Great Business Program, a revamp of the Your Dubbo program, is about building stronger businesses across the region. The program was designed to educate, empower and reward local businesses – Naomi Simson will lead the second workshop on May 24: Fifteen businesses in town participate in the Great Business Program.
