Years ago I heard Ike Bain (right-hand man to Dick Smith – and author of ‘the Dick Smith Way’) speak. There was one clear message… It is ok to have fun in business.

In fact the more we enjoy what we do the more productive we are. Some years ago we decided to make the most of 1 April and design a product range just for April Fools day. When we sent it out it generated our single biggest day of traffic to date. Given we had April Fools day again this year (oh that’s right we have one every year) I was really pleased that our marketing team invented another great range of experiences just for the day. Here are just a few of the feedback messages we got.

Good on you for taking the trouble and making people laugh on April fools day, there is not enough laughter, but you certainly gave me a chuckle when I read your lovely new experiences. Also congratulations on a brilliant website full of different ideas, I wasn’t disappointed when I went swimming with the dolphins (maybe do it again one day when I can treat myself).

Thanks a lot, regards,
Leigh

Heh Heh Heh!!! Loved your April Fools Spoof . . . haven’t had time to read them all . . . but I REALLY wanted to spend a night in the Fairy Castle in the Clouds . . . see what you can do . . . Keep up the good work 🙂
Sheila

It is so much easier doing business if people are having fun. We worked out that the purpose of our email marketing is simply to entertain. Perhaps give people a giggle and then they are much more likely to share it with their friends.

  1. Hi, Naomi.
I am a master student of Swinburne University. It is a lucky opportunity knowing your company. The idea of your company is so good.

One of the subject is Customer Relationship Management, and the convener is Janeen Sonsie. We decided to choose Redballoon. In this assignment, we have to analys the company’s current CRM strategy, but we can not find from the Redballon’s website. I wonder whether we can receive some brief information about CRM strategy from you.

    Thank you so much!
