I was presenting for a corporation many months ago and the brief was to be inspiring, innovative and motivational – but please don’t make being an entrepreneur sound too exciting, we don’t want them all to leave to start their own businesses.
Life as an entrepreneur is not a laugh a minute. There is heartache, sole searching and sleepless nights. But what is exciting is the creativity of being an entrepreneur, and for me I struggled to find a corporation in my twelve-year corporate marketing career which could harness and maximise my talents.
According to a study by Harvard Business Review 2003
- 81% of business managers have bad communication skills
- 33% of business managers believe they need to innovate to beat the competition
- 62% said that their organisation does not know how to innovate
- Only 11% say that business managers have any ongoing education.
There must be a happy medium, education, innovation and creativity.
