According to the National Center for Biotechnology Information, at the U.S. National Library of Medicine, the average attention span of a human being has dropped from 12 seconds in 2000 to 8 seconds in 2013.
A goldfish has the attention span of 9 seconds. The big question is what can you do to arrest this. We used to think that email interrupted our concentration – our ‘smart’ devices are driving our behaviors. Information at our finger tips – and we use our fingers rather than our brains to find anything and everything.
I know myself it is an addiction. So hard to put away the device. I have been encouraging people to take the 21 day challenge of not using a device in the presence of another. When I saw this video I realized the epidemic proportion of “we are so busy connected we have disconnected”.
Please take a look at the video (3.6million others have) – and then take the 21 day challenge of not using your phone in the presence of others.
Do something to really connect to the people who are important to you…what about taking a RedBalloon experience. Just sayin’ can’t help myself. It is this deep sense of purpose that drives me over and over. Do something with someone you love today – and leave your phone at home.
